Manchester Nightlife Guide

The city of Manchester is buzzing with nightlife 7 days a week, and best of all there's something for all ages, whether it's a quick drink in a quirky Northern Quarter bar or a night club for any genre of music.

Night Clubs

  • The Venue Nightclub
  • The Venue is located on Jacksons Row which is round the corner from the Town Hall. The Venue is one of the newest indie clubs in Manchester open from Tuesday through to Saturday, with Friday and Saturday being the busiest nights. Located within a grungy basement, the decor and feel of the place isn't anything special, but the music is what makes the Venue one of Manchesters best indie clubs. The Venue attracts the older scale of the students ranging from 20-30, basically the cool crowd. The bar staff and bouncers seem to be always friendly and there’s never any sign of trouble. You will find all types of music at the venue, anything from swinging Sixties and soul to manchester indie. The Venue Manchester

In a nutshell, the Venue nightclub is definitely the best out of the three main indie clubs, and makes a change from venues such as 5th avenue, where the bouncers seem to always cause trouble. 5th Bans Girl - Manchester Evening News

  • 42nd Street Nightclub

This has to be the most well known indie club in Manchester, if you like Stone Roses, Oasis and the latest indie pop then head to 42nd street, the drinks are no longer dirt cheap, but you can pickup a double vodka red bull for around £2.00 within the week. Entry is free before 10:30, and its around £4-5 if you have to pay for entry depending if you have a flyer or an NUS Student Card. 42nd Street Night Club

  • 5th Avenue

Probably the most main stream indie club within Manchester with lots of promotion on the local radio stations for foam partys and calender events. But 5th Avenue Night club can become boring, after 5-6 years of visiting the place around 1-2 times a month, the music is repetitive and the DJ never plays requests. The drinks are usually cheaper than 42nd street and it's rather easy to get served. They also have a decent amount of seating so if you just want to chill, you will have no problem getting a seat. But one thing I've noticed and the people of Manchester is that 5th avenue manchester has the most unfriendly bouncers, step out of line and you could see your self not getting in. You feel as if you cant relax as you see random people being thrown out all over the place, hey it's action anyway. 5th Avenue Manchester
